Mission: Janice’s Women’s Center extends lifelines to women experiencing homelessness and domestic violence in the greater Phoenix, Arizona area.

To Whom This May Concern:

My name is Shante Saulsberry, and I am writing your company today to tell you a little bit about myself. We are in the beginning stages of creating a center for women. This center is focused on homeless women and women suffering from domestic Violence. We have recognized a strong need for more shelters and professional resources here in Phoenix, AZ.

We have been working diligently to get “Janice’s Women’s Center” up and running, so we can provide extra beds for women experiencing homelessness or needing a place of safety all while they obtain the skills and resources to take the necessary steps to get back into society. We understand the challenges that come with such an endeavor and despite what others may view as a Challenge or even impossible, we are up for the challenge, because the mission is clear and the need is a must in Phoenix, AZ.

If I may, I would like to tell you two short stories. My name is Shante Saulsberry and when I was younger my sister and I walked the streets of San Diego, CA with our mom. Although, most parents would say “A child won’t remember much from five and below” I can tell you this much, I was four years old and my sister was six years old and I can remember the day, like it was yesterday. I grew up having daydreams of the day. My sister was exhausted, she kept screaming and crying. She was hurting, she was hungry, and her feet were tired. We had walked miles and miles with nowhere to go. I can remember complaining that I needed to use the bathroom. I had to go number 2. (Yikes) My mom stopped at a tree and I pulled everything down and I went to the restroom outside. When I was done my mom handed me trash and leaves to wipe myself. These kinds of moment’s last forever with a child, it is not swept under a rug in hopes to be forgotten. It was not until we arrived at St. Vincent De Paul Shelter, that I was able to finally rest and feel safe. My sister was able to stop yelling and keep from getting in trouble. The shelter felt like home for me, it was a haven.

My life was challenging as a child and later my sister and I became a ward of the state. We stayed together because of family, but we lost our mom to society. She continued to live on the streets and become trapped in that world. When I got older, I vowed to do one thing, help others. I experienced

some challenges as a teen, enduring domestic violence at such a young age. It only took one experience for me with domestic violence and I remembered my strength as a younger child, and I got away. It was quite a journey and it was tough, mostly because I did not have anyone in my corner. So, I know the many challenges that women endure, and I am seeking to be the advocate for those women, here in Phoenix, AZ.

Today, I am a professional, educated woman working in the Legal Field and I’ve written a book titled “Dysfunctional Blessing”

Of Course, none of this would be possible without the generous support from our community. With much needed donation support we can get Janice’s Women’s Center completely established and opened to the women in need in Phoenix, AZ.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could contribute *ANY* amount to our Center. We believe that once our organization is established, we will be a success in Phoenix, AZ for the women in need and our community.

Thank You,
